2 Freedom Poems - Special Freedom Anthems - ... now set as songs to music !
These freedom poems celebrate our liberty and God-given freedoms.
We cannot save ourselves from oppression, slavery, captivity, bondage - either physically or spiritually.
We we must ask for help from Heaven, the help of God.
Whether it's the slavery of soul to sin, the devil, and his snares - or the slavery of body by prison, unjust taxation, tyrannical rule, unjust oppression, etc.
"He whom the Son sets free, is free indeed!" (John 8:36)
These poems remind us to be grateful to God for our freedoms - and to make ourselves worthy by living in God's grace and freedom - lest our freedoms be taken away.
These poems were first published on Monday, February 19, 2024 - which is President's Day in the United States of America.
The audio of the music was first placed here on Thursday, May 9th, Feast of the Ascension of Our Lord Jesus Christ into Heaven, which is 40 days after Easter.
Further down the page after the songs, you will find some notes and tips for singing - or playing - these 2 special anthems.
The title of this first poem comes from the Holy Bible, as explained further below.
382. The Battle is the Lord's
by Paul Berchtold, February, 2024
"The battle is the Lord's"
From Heaven the cry,
"The battle is the Lord's"
Good people reply:
For Holy Freedom!
For Holy Freedom!
The army of the Lord,
Will we join today?
With angelic hosts,
Will we fight God's way?
For Holy Freedom!
For Holy Freedom!
It's first for God's rights,
We must make demand,
God then can protect,
Our rights in this land.
For Holy Freedom!
For Holy Freedom!
All freedoms are lost,
By darkness of sin,
God only with us,
When He dwells within.
For Holy Freedom!
For Holy Freedom!
We need the help of God,
Else we suffer loss,
The victory we seek,
Was won by Jesus' cross,
For Holy Freedom!
For Holy Freedom!
Our weapon is prayer,
It's in God we trust,
Prayer puts God to work,
When our cause is just
For Holy Freedom!
For Holy Freedom!
For all bound by chains
In captivity,
We pray now to God
For true liberty.
For Holy Freedom!
For Holy Freedom!
O'er all earth's armies
And hell's darkest hour,
The smallest of prayers,
Has far more power.
For Holy Freedom!
For Holy Freedom!
"The battle is the Lord's"
From Heaven the cry,
"The battle is the Lord's"
Good people reply:
For Holy Freedom!
For Holy Freedom!

383. Let Freedom Ring!
by Paul Berchtold, February, 2024
By Heaven's choice,
All lands rejoice!
Justice has come,
For all, not some.
Let Freedom Ring,
Let Freedom Ring!
By Heaven's choice,
Our hearts rejoice!
Mercy is for
Those who implore.
Let Freedom Ring,
Let Freedom Ring!
Mary You are,
Mother and Star,
Love guides the heart,
To do our part.
Let Freedom Ring,
Let Freedom Ring!
Instead of fear,
We loudly cheer,
Our shouts and cries,
Reaches the skies,
Let Freedom Ring,
Let Freedom Ring!
Father Mighteous,
Your love made us,
To see Your Face
One day by grace,
Let Freedom Ring,
Let Freedom Ring!
Our Lord Jesus,
You revive us,
The one true Word,
Your prayers are heard,
Let Freedom Ring,
Let Freedom Ring!
Spirit Righteous,
Bring Light to us
Be now our guide,
In us reside,
Let Freedom Ring,
Let Freedom Ring!
Our God Holy,
Bless us fully,
We give you praise,
Now and always.
Let Freedom Ring,
Let Freedom Ring!

Musical Notes and Tips for Singing these 2 Anthems
In both these anthems, the ideal would be that all the lines in each verse are sung by all.
But when the words are not readily available, or some do not know the words, the leader or a select group could sing the first 4 lines, and all join in for the last 2 lines, in each verse.

We Must Fight for Freedom - but only God Grants the Victory
The title of the first poem - "The Battle is the Lord's" - comes from the Holy Bible.
There are many verses in the Holy Bible where we are reminded that God rescues His people and grants the victory - not by our weapons - but by His almighty power.
Here are 2 examples:
"He said: 'Listen, King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem! This is what the Lord says to you: "Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s ... Take up your positions, stand firm, and see the salvation of the Lord on your behalf ... Do not be afraid or discouraged ... for the Lord is with you." ’ ” (2 Chronicles 20:15)
"All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord's, and He will give all of you into our hands.” (1 Samuel 17:47)
Celebrate Freedom!
The 2 poems on this page were first published on Monday, February 19, 2024 - which is President's Day in the United States of America.
This is the holiday when the birthdays - of our first President, George Washington, and Abraham Lincoln, who helped free our country from slavery - are celebrated.
These freedom poems are - as far as I know - the first poems composed and published on this website in over 10 years.
