When is Pentecost

The Coming of the Holy Spirit?
When is Pentecost? When did the Holy Spirit come down from heaven in a special way upon the followers of Jesus?
We celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost Sunday. which is 7 weeks after - the 7th Sunday after -
Easter, and 10 days after
Ascension Thursday, (which is 40 days after Easter).
Because
Easter Sunday is a movable feast, Pentecost also is a movable feast - a different day every year.
The word Pentecost comes from a word meaning 50. It's actually the 49th day after Easter, but it's the 50th day if you include Easter in your counting.
Pentecost Sunday falls in a 35 day window between May 10th at the earliest and June 13th at the latest.
I've included a chart with the dates of Pentecost good for many years.

When does the Holy Spirit Come?
While we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit in a special way on the first Pentecost Sunday, it is neither the first nor the last coming of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit can come upon each of us personally.
About 3 and a half years earlier, Jesus received baptism in the Jordan as a sign of beginning his public ministry at the age of 30. Coming out of the water, the, a form of a dove was seen descending on him.
Throughout the Acts of the Apostles, the book in the bible right after the Gospels, we read of different times when the Holy Spirit came upon the Apostles and disciples.
When is Pentecost for us?
Each of us can have a Pentecost, a coming of the Holy Spirit. And not just at one time, but many times in our lives.
If we are in God's grace, we have the Holy Spirit. And the Holy Spirit can come to increase in us his gifts and graces.
Jesus told Nicodemus, "Do not be amazed that I said, 'You must be born again.' The wind blows where it wishes. You hear it's sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit." (John 3:7-8)
Thanksgiving for the Coming of the Holy Spirit
Thank you God the Father, and thank you God the Son Jesus, for sending the Holy Spirit.
Thank you Holy Spirit for coming to make fruitful in the church and in our souls the work of Jesus on earth.
Thank you Holy Spirit for coming into my heart and soul as a most strong and yet most gentle friend.
Come, Holy Spirit!
Thank you, Holy Spirit!
Thank your stars!
